Whether you’re a business owner or an individual buying or selling furniture online, when you need to ship a piece or a few pieces of furniture, you want to save money. Shipping something big and bulky, like a couch or table, can cost you an arm and a leg. Take a look at these options for the cheapest way to ship furniture, and avoid shipping service sticker shock.

Cheapest Way to Ship Furniture to Another State

Depending on the piece, you have some very cost-effective options when moving furniture to another state:

  • Shipping Furniture as LTL Freight: Often, transporting furniture pieces as LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) freight is the cheapest option. If you’re experienced in properly preparing and crating your furniture, this is the solution for you.
  • Shipping Furniture as Bus Freight: One way to ship furniture long distances and save money is to contact a bus service, like Greyhound and ask about their freight services. Similar to LTL shipping, you will want to know how to prepare your furniture to avoid damages in transit. Another thing to keep in mind is size and weight restrictions. If your furniture exceeds these restrictions, you can quickly go from a cheap solution to an expensive problem.
  • Shipping Furniture as Train or Plane Freight: While most people think of ground transportation when shipping furniture, don’t forget about the skies and the rails. Trains and planes have additional limitations and restrictions that can cause the cost of shipping furniture to skyrocket. For instance, larger pieces may require you to register as a TSA-known approved shipper. Also, you will need to get the item to and from the train station or airport, adding even more costs.
  • Finding an Independent Furniture Transporter: Transporters who specialize in furniture delivery often have extra room on their truck, and are looking to fill that space. Since they already have a few deliveries, they can usually cut you a deal and end up being the cheapest way to ship furniture long distances. This is also a great option if you aren’t confident in preparing your piece or pieces of furniture for freight transportation. uShip’s shipping marketplace can connect you with just such a carrier today.

Should I Rent a Truck or Trailer to Transport Furniture Long Distances?

While renting a truck or trailer can be very low-cost upfront, it does require more personal effort and potential additional costs that can quickly add up. Expenses commonly ignored are:

  • Food and Lodging: If your furniture transport requires multiple days of travel you will need food and a place to sleep for the night.
  • Vehicle Part Rentals:  You may need to rent additional parts for your furniture move such as a tow hitch for your trailer or a car tow dolly for your truck.
  • Additional miles: If you choose to rent a truck, know that rental companies charge per mile once you have exceeded the maximum mileage allotted on your rental agreement.
  • Shipping Protection: It will be your responsibility to cover the cost of any damage done to your rental while hauling furniture long distances.
  • Additional equipment: For the best protection, your furniture may require additional equipment such as moving pads, tie-down straps, and furniture dollies.

All things considered, renting a truck or trailer is a cheap option if you don’t have many items to move very far. Otherwise, it would be best to explore alternative shipping methods if you are looking for the cheapest way to ship furniture cross country.

Want to see how cheap it can be to ship your furniture? List your shipping needs with details around your couch, chair, table, any piece of furniture or home decor in uShip’s marketplace and start getting furniture shipping quotes today.

There’s nothing like listening to your favorite music on a vintage record player. With a sound warmer than Texas in July, it’s no surprise that they’ve been making a comeback over the past decade.

Not only are record consoles an optimal way to listen to music, but they are also the perfect statement piece for any art deco or mid-century vibe. And the good news is that you can find affordable consoles all over the place; they just may require a little TLC. If restoring a record player scares you, check out these cool upcycled furniture shops on Etsy.

Whether you’re transporting a record console you found on the internet, or if you’re moving households and need to take it with you, you’ve come to the right place. In this guide, you’ll learn how to pack and transport your console, turnable, or vinyl record collection to ensure it all arrives in its original condition.

Transporting a Record Player

When shipping a record player console, the most important thing is protecting its fragile components from damage. Most consoles available on today’s market were built in the late 50s; their wiring, speakers, turntable, and other crucial elements can easily become faulty due to intense movement during transport. That said, there are plenty of actions you can take to reduce and eliminate any damage to your console or turntable.

To properly transport a record player, follow the simple steps below:

  1. Remove Loose Items: Remove any items from the console, including records, debris, or anything else that may damage or become damaged during the move.
  2. Remove Legs: If you can, remove the legs of the console to avoid them being scuffed during transport.
  3. Add Corner Protection: Use cardboard pieces to cover the corners of your console.
  4. Wrap in Protective Material: Use bubble wrap or moving blankets (preferred) to wrap your console for an extra layer of protection.

You can also crate your record console or opt for white glove services for the ultimate protection. Lastly, it’s very important not to place any kind of tape directly on the surface of your console as it will damage the wood.

Cost to Ship a Record Player Console

The cost of shipping a record player costs anywhere from $100 to $2,000. That said, the price for transporting a record player is heavily dependent on multiple factors. Those factors are:

  • The distance required for shipping
  • Gas prices
  • Size and weight
  • Carrier availability
  • Seasonality

To see how much it might cost to ship your record player, please see our cost-to-ship index. Here, you can see what others have paid to ship similar items to yours.

Transporting a Turntable

Turntables are much easier to transport compared to an entire console. The main thing to worry about with a turntable is to make sure that you properly pack it to avoid any costly damage. To transport a turntable, follow these simple steps:

  1. Measure: Use a tape measure to find the dimensions of your turntable.
  2. Secure Dust Cover: If you can, use a large rubber band or small piece of tape to secure the dust cover in place.
  3. Source Box: Based on your measurements, source an appropriate-sized box for transport. You’ll want about an inch or so of room on all four sides for packing material.
  4. Add Layer of Packing Material: Add a layer of crumbled newspaper, packing peanuts, or packing foam to the box. Use just enough to fill 1/4th of the box.
  5. Add Turntable to Box: Slowly place your turntable inside the box.
  6. Add New Layer of Packing Material: Fill the remaining space in the box with your packing material.
  7. Tape Box Shut and Label: Use packing tape to secure the box shut and label as needed with a permanent marker.

How to Pack Vinyl Records

If you’re moving any type of record player, chances are you’ll have a collection of vinyl to go with it. Don’t waste your investment; take the proper steps to pack these too. The last thing you want to happen is to open a box of warped or cracked records after your move. To properly pack your records, see the video below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mf87X06psYQ

Additionally, visit the Vinyl Frontier to learn more about packing and shipping your record collection.

Record Console VS. Turntable

While record player consoles and turntables both play vinyl discs, they differ quite a bit in functionality and how they are used.

A record console is essentially an all-in-one entertainment center for playing vinyl records. They are typically crafted of solid wood and include a place to store your record collection, a turntable, a radio, and wired speakers with an amplifier. Record consoles are usually vintage and were produced between the 60s up to the late 70s. That said, you can find later models, but they won’t sound as nice.

A turntable is the standalone unit that actually plays records within a console. A turntable comes without speakers, vinyl storage, a radio, or an amplifier. To use a turntable, you’ll need to purchase your own set of speakers. And if the speakers are not powered, you would need to purchase an amplifier to power the system. Turntables are very portable, which makes them popular with DJs.

SUP? If you are moving, or if you have bought a stand up paddle board online, chances are you will need a way to transport it. Sure, you could pay the extra fees to ship it via a parcel carrier, but there is a better way. The best way to transport a paddle board is to hire a carrier from the uShip marketplace.

uShip is an online marketplace that connects shippers to carriers. Carriers on uShip offer lower shipping rates in return for filling their otherwise empty trailer space. Simply create a listing on the marketplace, review your quotes, choose the best paddle board carrier, and book using our secure payment center. Obtaining a quote is free and there is no obligation to book.

On the other hand, if you are just looking for a way to transport your SUP to and from the water, we can help with that too. This guide covers the most popular ways people transport their paddle boards to local hot spots.

How to Transport a Paddle Board on a Roof Rack

If you are going out on the water multiple times a month, investing in a quality roof rack is the best way to go. You can transport a paddle board on a car or any other vehicle that allows for a rack. Below is general guidance on how to transport a stand up paddle board on a roof rack. Keep in mind that each roof rack will be different and you will need to tailor the following instructions based on your situation.

To transport a SUP, you will need:

  • Crossbars: These run horizontally across the top of your roof’s vertical rack. Some vehicles have them pre-installed, some don’t. You may need to also install an entire roof rack if you do not already have one.
  • A SUP rack or foam: You will need to purchase and install a SUP kit to your roof rack and cross bars. Alternatively, you can purchase foam blocks or padding to save money.
  • Tools: Depending on the route you wish to take, you will need to gather the correct tools such as screwdrivers, drills, and wrenches.
  • Ropes: Grab two strong non-stretch ropes to tie the bow and stern down (front and back). We recommend 12-20 feet of length per rope.
  • Cam Straps: You’ll need two cam straps measuring at least 12 feet long.

After collecting the necessary materials, follow these simple steps:

  1. Install rack, pads, or cross bars: The first step is to install a rack on your vehicle if it does not already have one. Next, you will want to install the cross bars. Lastly, install your kit, foam pads, or blocks.
  2. Lift paddle board on top of vehicle: When you are ready, place the board next to your vehicle. Have one person pick up one end while you pick up the other. Next, you should both gently lift the board, deck-down, fin-forward, over your heads and on top of the rack, blocks, or pads.
  3. Tie down: Lastly, use your cam straps to secure your paddle board to the rack. Then use rope to tie the front and back of the paddle board to the respective bumper. This will help stabilize the board during high winds or in long-distance situations.

As mentioned above, it is important to keep in mind that each board and set up will be different. Use discretion and tailor these instructions to your specific needs.

How to Transport a Paddle Board without a Roof Rack

Those without the ability to purchase a roof rack will need to find a way to transport their board. The best way to ship a paddle board without a car rack is to use a truck. You can simply place your paddle board in the bed of your truck and tie it down. However, be sure you are keeping safety in mind while using this method.

DIY Transport Tips

  • Stay safe: The most important tip of all is to be smart and stay safe during the entire process.
Use locking straps: If you can afford it, use locking cam straps for extra security.
  • Stop and check: You should stop and check on your straps every 15-20 minutes to adjust as needed.
  • Protect your back: Anytime you are lifting anything, you should always protect your back. Lift with your knees and do not be afraid to ask for help.
  • Protect your board: To prevent dents and scratching, try using a board bag or bubble wrap in a pinch.

Cost of Shipping a Paddle Board

The cost to transport a paddle board will depend on how far it needs to go. The further the distance, the higher the cost to ship. That said, there are other factors that affect paddle board shipping rates: Size, current gas prices, demand, and service types are all examples of pricing factors.

Surfing is definitely a water sport to add to your summer bucket list. However, before you hit the water, you will need to find the perfect board. If you are considering purchasing a surfboard out of state, chances are you will need to also ship it.

Traditional shipping methods, such as parcel, are expensive and risky. Many things can go wrong such as damage, loss, and theft. The best way to ship a surfboard is by using the uShip marketplace. Using uShip for surfboard shipping is like catching the perfect wave – there’s nothing else like it.

uShip is an online shipping marketplace that connects shippers to local transport service providers with empty trailer space. We give you the power to choose both the perfect surfboard transporter and perfect price. Simply create a free listing to get started. From there, review your quotes and book – it’s that easy.

How to Prepare and Ship Your Board

The first step to any surfboard shipment is properly packing it to avoid damage. While uShip carriers take great care of your board during transport, it is important to eliminate all risk. To properly protect your surfboard from damage, you will need the following materials:

  • A large cardboard box: You will want to locate a box large enough to fit the entire board.
Packing material: Packing material such as old newspaper, bubble wrap, packing peanuts, or foam works great.
  • Packing tape: Clear packing tape is the best way to go, however, duck tape also works fine.
  • Hex wWrench: You will need a hex wrench to remove the fin from the bottom of the board. Hex size will vary.
  • Marker: A thick permanent marker is best.

Gather your materials and follow the instructions below to prepare and ship your surfboard:

  1. Document pre-existing damage: Carefully examine your surfboard for any pre-existing damage. Document any dents, scratches, or blemishes prior to packing it up for shipping.
  2. Remove fin: Locate the fins at the bottom of your board. Use a hex wrench to remove the screws from the bottom of the surfboard. Finally, gently lift and remove the fins.
  3. Bubble wrap: Use bubble wrap to protect your board from damage. Wrap the entire surfboard with two layers of bubble wrap. Do not forget the fin – wrap it in bubble wrap as well. For even more protection, complete the process by wrapping the board in an old blanket.
  4. Prepare Box: Prep the box by placing packing material in the bottom. This allows for cushion prior to placing the board in the box. An inch or two of styrofoam, newspaper, or packing peanuts will do just fine.
  5. Place board in box: Gently slide your bubble wrapped board inside of the prepped box. Be careful not to tear the cardboard.
  6. Fill with packing material: Fill the remaining space inside the box with newspaper, packing peanuts, or foam. Do not leave any room for movement.
  7. Tape and label: Tape the box shut and label as needed – include that the contents of the box are fragile and requires careful handling. Furthermore, you should include which side is to be shipped upright.
  8. Choose a shipping method: After packing the board, you will need to select a surfboard shipping service that works best for you.

How Much to Ship a Surfboard?

Surfboard shipping charges heavily depend on the distance the board must travel. However, there are many other factors that go into the cost to ship a surfboard, such as:

  • Size: The overall dimensions of the surfboard will impact the total cost to ship.
  • Current gas prices: The cost to ship a surfboard will greatly depend on current gas prices.
  • Time: The more time you allow for delivery, the better rate you will receive.

For a better look at surfboard shipping costs, please see our cost to ship index. From there, you can compare other surfboard shipments like yours to see what you might pay. Otherwise, if you are ready to ship, click below for free quotes.

The post How to Transport a Bike appeared first on uShip Shipping Guides.

Riding a bike is one of the best modes of alternative transportation. But what about when you need to transport a bicycle long distances? Transporting a bicycle sounds like it should be easy, right? Well, if you have ever made the attempt to transport a bike without a bike rack or truck, you know that a lot of things can go wrong.

You can try to push, shove, or stuff your bike into your car, but you’ll end up having to remove important parts in order for it to fit.  As a result, you will probably either lose the parts, forget how to put them back on the bike, or both. Furthermore, by cramming a bike into your vehicle, you risk damaging your vehicle’s interior.

The best way to avoid the hassle is to hire a professional bicycle transporter from uShip.

uShip is an online marketplace that connects shippers to carriers with empty space in their trailer. Carriers are able to fill the space by providing lower rates to our shipping customers. It’s easy to get quotes – create a listing, compare your rates, review the carriers, and book using a secure payment method.

The best part about using uShip to ship your bicycle is that it’s free to get a quote and you are under no obligation to book with us. uShip really gives you the freedom and power to pick and choose the perfect bike transporter.

How to Transport a Bicycle

If you decide to take on the DIY bike transport challenge, below are some of the best and worst ways to do it:

  • Use a bike rack: The best way to move a bicycle short distances is by purchasing a bike rack made for your specific car. There are roof racks, hitch racks, and trunk racks. The downside of this option is that bikes can be easily stolen and damaged. If you will be leaving your bicycle unattended, you should skip this method.
  • Transport a bicycle by air: This option works best if you are flying for a vacation and want to take your bike with you. Most airlines will allow you to check a bicycle as long as it is in a bike case, box or bike bag. Unfortunately, a plastic bag will not work.
  • Transport a bicycle in a car: Why we don’t condone using your car without a bike rack to ship your bicycle, it is possible. Make sure you remove the wheels, pedals, seat, and handle bars to allow it to fit in the trunk or backseat. As previously mentioned, this can damage your car – grease will stain seats and bike parts can scratch and rip the interior.
  • Transport a bike in a train: Bike transport by train is possible. Railway authorities allow bikes to be transported as cargo. Companies such as Amtrak will allow you to even carry on a bike as luggage up to 50 pounds. Check with your local railway station for specific regulations.
  • Transport a bike in a pickup: There are many ways to ship a bike in a truck bed. You could just throw it in the back and tie it down for safety, but there are better ways. For example, you can purchase a bed rack that secures many bikes at once. Do your research and see which method works best for your truck.

When to Transport a Bike

There are many reasons someone would want to transport a bike:

  • Tune-ups and maintenance trips: uShip can transport your bike to and from your favorite mechanic for tune-ups and more.
  • Events: We can transport your bicycle to events such as races, triathlons, Iron Man competitions, and more.

There is nothing like hitting the water with a kayak or canoe during the warm months of spring and summer. Lakes, rivers, and oceans are all great places to explore by small boat or vessel. That said, transporting a canoe or kayak can be challenging if you do not have the right equipment or know-how. Luckily, this kayak and canoe transport guide will teach you the various ways to properly ship one with ease.

How to Transport a Canoe or Kayak

Depending on the type of kayak or canoe you own, there are many ways to transport it. You can use a roof rack, load it into the back of a truck, stuff it into a van, or hire a moving company like uShip. In this guide, we will go over how to transport a canoe or kayak with a roof rack, without a roof rack, in a truck bed, and with uShip.

How to Transport a Canoe or Kayak on a Roof Rack

The most popular way to transport a canoe or kayak is with a roof rack. Roof racks are nice because they offer a safe and secure way to transport any small vessel. They are readily available for many types of cars, trucks, and vans. On the other hand, roof racks can get expensive. It would be much more cost effective to hire a transport company for a one-time move.

That said, to transport a canoe or kayak on a roof rack you will need the following materials:

  • A roof rack and kayak/canoe kit: If your vehicle does not have a roof rack, you will need to first purchase and install one. You will also need to purchase a canoe or kayak roof rack kit. These kits come in various formats – foam pads, clamps, crossbars, loops, hoops, and more. It is important to choose a kit that best works for your vehicle and roof rack.
  • Tools: If you are installing a new roof rack you will need to gather the appropriate tools to do so. Refer to your user manual for precise tool and material requirements.
  • Straps: Use cam straps if you can as they do not require tying any special knots. Alternatively, you may use strong rope in place of cam straps.
  • Lifting partner: Rounding up a partner is a good idea to assist with lifting and carrying the canoe or kayak.

After gathering the proper materials, follow these simple steps:

  1. Install roof rack: If you already have a roof rack installed, you may skip this step. Otherwise, refer to your roof rack user manual for complete installation steps. It also may be necessary to seek professional installation.
  2. Install canoe shipping kit: There are different approaches to installing a canoe or kayak kit on your roof rack depending on the type you purchase. Refer to your specific kit’s installation instructions to proceed.
  3. Lift the canoe and place it on the roof of your car: With your partner’s help, lift the canoe or kayak by its carry handles and gently place it on top of your car making sure that the body is lining up with the shipping kit’s specifications. For example, if you have a foam block kit, ensure that the bow and stern line up and sit snugly within the V or J shape cut out.
  4. Tie down: Center the canoe or kayak and begin to tie it down using cam straps or rope. Rest the buckle of the cam strap on one side of the boat so that it hangs right above the bar of the roof rack. Toss the other end over the vessel, walk over to the other side, and loop it under the rack’s bar. Then, toss the strap back over the boat, loop it under the bar, and secure it with the cam buckle. Repeat this for both the front and back of your canoe or kayak. Do the same for ropes, but use secure knots.
  5. Secure the bow and stern: Use rope to secure the bow and stern of the canoe or kayak to your vehicle. This is highly recommended if you will be traveling at high speeds down a freeway. For the bow, loop the rope under your front bumper, through the front of the boat, and tie off. Repeat this process for the stern.

As always, refer to your specific roof rack owner’s manual for precise setup and loading instructions. Fasten and secure all straps, ropes, and tie-downs before heading to your destination. If you are planning to transport your canoe or kayak long distance, be sure to stop often to check on it.

How to Transport Canoe or Kayak without a Roof Rack

We do not recommend transporting a canoe or kayak in a car without a rack. As an alternative to a rack, you can purchase or rent a special trailer meant to haul one or many vessels at a time. This is obviously the most expensive option, however, it’s the most convenient for those with multiple canoes and kayaks, or those who boat often.

Transporting a canoe or kayak without a roof rack is mostly unsafe and not recommended. That said, if you have a truck you may be in luck. Use your best judgement before proceeding with shipping a canoe or kayak without a roof rack.

How to Ship a Canoe Across the Country

The best way to ship a canoe or kayak across the country is to use a company like uShip. It is likely that cross country moves will involve high-speeds, unpredictable weather conditions, and other hazards. To keep both you and your vessel safe, hiring a professional transporter for cross country moves is a good call.

Kayak and Canoe Shipping Costs

The cost to transport a canoe or kayak depends on many factors such as:

  • Distance: The further the kayak or canoe travels, the higher the price.
  • Service Type: Certain service types, such as open or closed transport, will affect the price.
  • Gas Prices: Current gas prices are a huge factor when it comes to shipping a canoe or kayak.
  • Size of Shipment: The amount of space your shipment takes up in a trailer determines the price you will pay for shipping.
  • Pickup and Delivery Locations: If your pickup or delivery location is difficult for a service provider to access you expect higher shipping rates.
  • Additional Services: If your kayak or canoe shipment requires additional shipping services, such as storage or inside delivery, shipping rates will be more expensive.

For a better look at what it might cost to ship your kayak or canoe, see our cost to ship a kayak index.

Regardless of who ships your mower, you will want to properly prepare it for transport. That is, you will want to ensure that your lawnmower stays safe during its move. The following steps will teach you how to prep and pack your mower for shipping:

  1. Drain all liquids: Any liquids such as gas and oil should be drained completely into proper containers. This means that you also need to wipe the  mower clean of any combustible materials.
  2. Clean your mower: Inspect your lawnmower and gently clean it with soap and water to remove any dirt, mud, grime, or grass clippings.
  3. Remove blades and attachments: You will want to remove the blades from your mower before you ship it. Wear gloves and consult with the manufacturer’s manual for further instructions. Furthermore, you should also remove any attachments that may break during transport. Wrap all attachments and blades in bubble wrap and place in a secure box. Once again, be careful not to harm yourself when handling blades.
  4. Disconnect spark plug: Wouldn’t it be awful if your lawnmower was to start during transport? Disconnect the spark plug to avoid an accidental start. This can happen even without fuel in the tank.
  5. Protect your lawnmower: If you are a proud lawnmower parent, you will want to protect your child. Cover your mower with a heavy duty tarp if you plan on transporting it in open air.

By following the above steps, you will reduce and minimize the risk of damage – both to your lawnmower and to the carrier’s equipment. While it may seem a hassle to prepare it, you will appreciate the extra care you took once the carrier delivers it free of damage.

Whether you are moving into a new home or if you are selling your old storage shed, chances are that you will need to find a way to move your storage shed to its new location. Unfortunately, moving a storage shed is nothing like moving boxes – you’re going to need a professional to get the job done right. Fortunately, uShip can connect you with a quality mover at an affordable price who will work safely and efficiently.

For those DIY enthusiasts, you will find step by step instructions to move your storage shed. Keep in mind that you will need to tailor your strategy based on your specific needs and equipment. The following guidelines should be read and understood as a general overview of how to transport a tool, garden, or storage shed.

How to Transport a Storage Shed: Step by Step

Items Required: Three to five metal or PVC pipes, an auto jack, a shovel, and wood tracks. Optional: forklift or crane.

  1. Decide on a method for shipping
    • In a truck bed: this method is only for smaller, more manageable sheds. We do not advise using this type of transport.
    • Move Shed on a trailer: If you own a flatbed trailer, or are able to rent one, this may be a low cost option.
    • Breakdown: Depending on the type of shed, you may be able to break it down and rebuild it at its new location. Beware, this option is time consuming and tedious.
    • Hire a Professional: Hiring a professional is the safest option.
    • Buy a new storage shed: Leaving your shed behind and buying a new one is the easiest option if you can afford it.
  2. Clean and empty storage shed for transport: Your shed is going to be heavy. Reduce the weight by removing all contents. Furthermore, cleaning out the contents also prevents items from becoming damaged during transport.
  3. Prepare the area for moving: It is important to make a clear path for moving your shed. For example, if you have overgrown grass, mow it. This will make the process much easier. Furthermore, remove debris from your yard such as sticks, brush, leaves, garden tools, furniture, etc.
  4. Dig Out Storage Shed: Sheds tend to sink into the ground overtime so you will need to dig around the base to free it from the grips of Earth. Once you have dug out your shed from the ground, create four pickup points at the four corners of the shed by digging out enough room to fit a jack underneath. A rule of thumb is to dig at least half a foot of clearance per corner. Use extreme caution when digging – analyze your situation and adjust your strategy accordingly.
  5. Lift and Roll: Arrange your metal pipes (or PVC)  parallel to the base of the front of the shed. Then, place your jacks under the four corners of the pick up points and slowly jack to lift the shed. Only lift the building high enough for the metal pipes to fit under. You could use four strong humans for this, but keep in mind that this part is fairly dangerous.
  6. Next, have your helpers push the shed onto the first couple of pipes. Keep pushing and placing the pipes under the shed – evenly spaced. As you push, the shed will start to roll over the pipes. When I pipe rolls out the back, take the pipe and place it back in the front. This will keep it rolling. Keep it rolling at a slow and steady pace. Be careful not to build up to much speed. Roll the shed all the way to the end of the trailer you wish to load it on.
  7. Load Storage Shed: If you have a crane or forklift, this part will be easy. Simply lift it onto the trailer. On the other hand, if you do not have a forklift or crane, you will need to manually lift it onto the trailer. Use your jacks and raise the shed just enough to get a grip on the base. From there, have as many people as you need grab the base and lift the shed up and onto the trailer. Secure the shed as needed and transport it to its new location.

Who can Transport a Shed?

Anyone can move a storage shed, however, it’s best to hire a professional storage shed moving company. A professional moving company will have the correct tools and equipment to safely transport a shed of any kind. It is important to understand that the process is dangerous if you have never moved a storage building on your own.

To avoid injury, ensure you have performed proper research prior to attempting to do it yourself. Proper footwear, gloves, safety glasses, and other protective equipment should be worn at all times during the move. In essence, anyone can move a storage building; however, the best way to move a storage shed is to hire a professional company for the job.

How Much to Move a Storage Shed

The cost to move a storage shed will depend on the method you use. If you hire a transport company, your rate will depend on the total distance required for transporting your shed, its size, the effort needed to load it, and much more. Shipping medical equipment requires a service provider that offers speed, quality, and reliability. Transporting life-saving medical equipment as quickly as possible to those who need it during critical times should be the main focus of any carrier that you hire. That said, the carrier should also be able to balance speed with quality service. Furthermore, they should be able to comply with all mandatory regulations with regard to the pickup and delivery of your items.

Ship Medical Equipment With uShip

Locating a medical equipment transport company that provides speed, quality, and reliability is easy with uShip. uShip is an online marketplace that connects shippers to carriers and transport service providers. Service providers on uShip are able to handle medical items with the utmost care including high-value medical equipment, bulk supplies, and medical devices.

Furthermore, uShip service providers are able to transport equipment quickly to and from a variety of medical care facilities such as hospitals, urgent care clinics, emergency rooms, surgical centers, nursing homes, and more. To get started you will need to decide which method of transport to use: less than truckload (LTL) or a private provider.

Medical Equipment Transport Service Types

Less than truckload shipping requires shipping medical equipment on a pallet or in a crate. This option is best for bulk shipments and is extremely cost-effective. For custom services, it’s best to hire a private carrier through our marketplace.

To hire a private carrier on the uShip marketplace you will need to create a listing. Once you receive quotes you will need to review and choose the carrier that best fits your requirements. To learn more about our private carrier marketplace, see our guide on how it all works

For LTL shipments, you will need to use our instant rate calculator. Simply complete the form, get quotes, and book. The carrier will pick up your freight and deliver it within your specified timeframe. To learn more about LTL shipping, see our guide on less than truckload shipping.

As the CoronaVirus (Covid-19) continues to spread around the globe, it is important for carriers to be smart with their decisions as they continue to pick up and deliver shipments. If you are a service provider, be sure to take the necessary precautions to stay healthy and prevent the spread of the virus. This guide offers tips on how to do just that. However, if you suspect you have the virus, please seek professional medical assistance right away.

How to Stay Healthy During the CoronaVirus

Staying safe on the open road as a service provider is possible with proper knowledge and preparation. However, it’s important to know that there is currently not a preventative vaccine for the virus. According to the CDC, the following steps should be taken to protect yourself:

1 | Wash Your Hands

  • Wash your hands thoroughly after stopping for fuel, handling money, touching public surfaces, making a pickup or delivery, and after sneezing or coughing.
  • Wash with antibacterial soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
  • If water is not available, hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol can be used.

2 | Avoid Contact

  • Avoid any contact with sick people – even if they are not showing symptoms of the COVID-19 virus.
  • If you end up in an area with a high infection rate, it is best to leave as soon as possible. Risking your health over a shipment is not worth catching the virus.
  • Use common sense when in a public place. Do not touch other people or unnecessary surfaces.
  • Do not touch your face, mouth, eyes, or nose with unwashed hands.

3 | Clean and Disinfect

  • Clean and disinfect the inside of your truck often with a bleach solution or an EPA registered disinfectant.
  • Consider disinfecting any surface you or someone else may touch often – door handles, locks, levers, electronics, writing utensils, etc,

4 | Wear Gloves

  • Wear gloves when handling other people’s property. That said, wearing gloves does not substitute hand washing.
  • Ensure you are not allergic to latex products before you purchase gloves. If you are, buy latex-free.

What are the Symptoms of CoronaVirus?

Depending on many factors, the symptoms of CoronaVirus range from mild to severe. Typically, the following symptoms may appear within 2 – 14 days after exposure:

  • Fever
  • Shortness of breath
  • Coughing
  • Sneezing

This list is nonexhaustive and other symptoms can occur. Consult with a medical provider for all symptoms you are experiencing.

How to Prevent Spread of CoronaVirus (COVID-19)

If you are showing any symptoms of COVID-19, call your doctor right away and head home. Furthermore, you should also take preventative measures to help prevent spreading the virus, such as:

Cover Coughs and Sneezes

  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or use your inner elbow.
  • Throw your tissue away in a lined trash can.
  • Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water immediately after.

Stay Home and Self-Quarantine

  • Remain under isolation at home until your risk of transmission has been eliminated.
  • Stay in close contact with your healthcare provider.

Wear a Facemask

  • Only wear a facemask if you will be in public or sharing a space with others.
  • Wear a facemask if you are caring for others with the virus.

Remember, always call 911 if you have a medical emergency. Let the dispatcher know you may have COVID-19.

Novel CoronaVirus Resources
